Things you can learn on a Sunday night

  • That the first season of Mad Men is on Comcast ONDemand, and free to watch (learned while recording the Oxidize Podcast with Tony & Adam of oxidize.com). My watching of Mad Men last season was spotty. Now I can catch up before watching the new episodes from this season saved on my DVR
  • Juliana Hatfield is releasing a memoir
  • Dicky Barrett, lead singer of the Mighty, Mighty Bosstones whom I loved so much as a 23-year-old that I made my family refer to him as their future brother(son)-in-law the entire summer of 1995, is for Obama
  • I, apparently, have a future as a motivational instant messenger according to two of my friends
  • The man who wrote “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” died (overshadowed, of course, by the deaths of Issac Hayes and Bernie Mac)
  • I don’t have to babysit anyone this week. Jaycie & Max are in Michigan and the Tibbles will be with their dad. I have no idea what I’m going to do with an entire week to myself

i just finished watching season one of ‘mad men’ tonight. i’m glad i didn’t have to wait for weekly episodes — it was so delightfully awesome and awful at the same time.

i don’t know how i’ll survive season two.

I watched it off and on last season, so I have some catching up to do. Now I know what I’ll do with all my free time this week!

I went to the beach this week with some friends from my grad school days, and we came to the conclusion that everyone we knew (male and female alike) who lived in Boston at that time had a huge crush on Juliana Hatfield. I am also looking forward to the memoir.

Thanks for linking to the Dicky Barrett “Why Obama” series, there are many more to come, even a couple of “Why McCain” missives (even though writers and musicians haven’t been filling my e-mail box with those).
