Seven weeks of bliss

When I got home tonight Wolfdogg and I were talking about the upcoming Mike Doughty shows at the Bryant Lake Bowl in November. We’re a little bit worried about getting tickets because the Bryant Lake Bowl is roughly the size of the great room in Supergenius HQ. Which is to say eeny teeny.

It was then that Wolfdogg made the brilliant observation about how in the next seven weeks I’ll be seeing Paul Westerberg, The New Pornographers, Wilco, and Mike Doughty

“It’s like you arranged it,” he said.

Really, it’s as though someone in the universe wants me to be happy. I couldn’t have picked a better concert schedule.

I’ve never heard the New Pornographers before but since I like the other three you listed above, I’m interested in checking them out. What album would you recomend for a first time listener to them?

Holtz, I’d start out with “Mass Romantic” (that one’s my favorite). It’s got “Letter to an Occupant” on it and that song is just damn amazing.

Then I’d go with “Twin Cinema” followed by “Electric Version” and finally the new one, “Challengers” (which I do really, really love by the way but I’ve been a Pornographers fan for awhile and I am not sure if it’s the best introductory album for someone new to them).

I did get one presale ticket. So I’ll be going all by myself.

Please, Jeff…as if our Jodi would let a little thing like no ticket sales stop her from going to a Mike Doughty concert

I have a ticket, though I probably don’t need one. I got the Make Sweet, Sweet Love to Me Vibe™ and we all know that has yet to fail me.
