last week saw the start of the Great Supergenius Headquarters Beautificaton Project of 2005. it was a rather small start, framing some pictures, deciding to rearrange the books, that kind of stuff. actually, it was the rearranging of the books that got me into all the trouble. because i have decided that i have truly become rob gordon from “High Fidelity.” it was during the rearranging last week, that i decided that maybe i should buy a new bookcase. the thought didn’t get very far because i decided to take a nap and leave all the short story collections on the floor, where they sat for an entire week. oh who am i kidding? they’re still sitting there on the floor.

so when i woke up on saturday with a whole lot of nothing to do except work on the SHBP 2005, i decided i had to get a bookcase. not just any bookcase, the BIGGEST bookcase ever. i have five little, short bookcases dotted around my apartment. there were six little ones, but i gave one to sister #4 this weekend. now i have five little ones and one GIGANTIC bookcase. of course putting together the bookcase nearly killed me. literally.

but after much swearing, many bruises, and one thrown hammer, the bookcase is now standing upright in my living room. i’m so excited! i wish i would have had one more day to finish up the livingroom portion of the SHBP 2005. but alas, i was so battered by the bookcase that i had to rest on the couch and watch Hitch instead of filling it full of junk. once i finish this project i’m totally inviting someone over. i just don’t know who yet.
