the song of the day for the day darling ones, is elvis costello’s “everyday i write the book.” i’ve been listening to for the last 47 minutes. as soon as it gets close to the end, i slide that little Winamp bar right back to the beginning. of course this is doing nothing for the project i’m supposed to be writing here right now. you know, breaking your train of thought every 3 minutes and 28 seconds is not so conducive to good work. but these are the sacrifices we make for elvis.
of course is made all the more fun because about every one minute and fourty seconds i have to stop and lip sync to, “all your compliments and your cutting remarks are captured here in the quotation marks.” because i just love that line the most.
Elvis Costello does have a way with turning a phrase. Some of his songs I like just because of one line. For example, Veronica. “…well, that was all of sixty-five years ago, when the world was the street where you lived..” I could go on with other examples, but I don’t wanna ramble.
