unlike blanche dubois, i’ve never been one to depend on the kindness of strangers. so when a stranger or semi-stranger in this case does something nice for me it totally rocks my socks right off.
this morning after i finished clearing ruby of yet another two inches of snow, i attempted to leave the parking lot.
while this may sound like an easy enough task, it wasn’t. i slipped and slided around never quite making it out of my space. however, i did manage to come within inches of hitting the grand am parked next to me.
being the cracker jack problem solver that i am, i decided the best thing to do was to sit in ruby and try not to cry. as i was sitting there taking deep breaths and quickly wiping away tears of frustration, a boy approached ruby.
not just any boy, it just so happened to be one of my friday night bowler boys who also happens to live in my building. he said he’d help me.
as he was pushing ruby away from the grand am another boy from my building came out and helped bowler boy. with their help i was out of the spot and on the road in no time flat.
that pretty much made my day. right there, that early in the a.m.
