ruby, don’t take your love to town

this just in, the truck’s name is Ruby. yes, yes, i know i was counting on calling my first daughter Ruby. but well, the truck came first and it just seems to fit her so perfectly. so Ruby it is.

also, the lesbian jokes continue to run rampant across the creative services department today.

because the more we think about it the more i fit the stereotype. short hair, bad dresser, no make-up, geekgirl glasses, drives a truck, no boyfriend to speak of. sad, i know. ya know, i like to wish that if i were a lesbian i wouldn’t be single. that if i were a lesbian it would be much easier to find a mate. sadly, that is not the case. also, if i were a lesbian, i wouldn’t be in the closet. my family would be ubersupportive and i’d be a totally out. at least i like to think so, who really knows?

anyway, somehow this all got tied into amazon.com’s recommendation system. because if you like one book by a lesbian author, you like them all. we then had great fun stereotyping ourselves based solely on our amazon recommendations. sandy, my boss is a lesbian poet who likes merle haggard. i am a jewish lesbian marketing writer. yeah, it was great fun. plus we’ve made kari’s sister the butt of many jokes and much ridicule. it’s so tough being superior.

I think if I were gay I would have all kinds of dates.

But Ruby is a good name.

C’mon Jodi, what kind of truck did you get? Fill us in.

And yes, I love a woman in a truck. I don’t know what the appeal is, but it’s definitely there.
