My Misspent Youth

I’m reading My Misspent Youth by Meghan Daum. most every review i’ve read raved and raved about this book. how it cuts through journalistic pap, puts the essay form on its ear, blah, blah, blah.

really, i am not impressed. not impressed in the least. while the book is mildly entertaining, it’s not “hilarious” as one reviewer called it. mostly the book feels like someone printed out a web journal and bound it into a book.

daum is no better or worse than the best of the web journals filling the web. it’s so disappointing to read this thinking, i paid money for this. i paid money for something i can find on the web free in about 293,102 places.

what a shame.
