the heart of sunday afternoon

work has gotten so crazy insane busy that i have to work today, on sunday. it seem so sick and wrong that i should have to work on this, my day of naps and practice, but it’s what i must do. i know that putting in a few hours today at home will make this week nearly survivable.

what’s making this atrocious infringement on my personal time even remotely bearable, is tom waits. I got “Mystery Men” from Netflix earlier this week. I think I’ve watched it three times since I got it. It’s pretty funny, but what I’m digging so much is Tom Waits. He’s just so totally awesome as the mad scientist who invents non-lethal weapons.

The depths of my Tom Waits-fetish is highly under-played here on iwilldare.com (I own more CDs by Waits than any other artist) where I’m most often spoojing over Paul Westerberg, Mike Doughty, or one of my many flavors of the week. But, you should know, that just hearing Tom Waits’ voice makes my heart beat all kinds of goofy. Which is why, in this long crush/romance/sex drought (henceforth the Summer Drought of 2005), I keep watching this movie over and over and over again.
