Ok, Darling Ones, hold on to your butts, this is a big’un. . .
Do y’all remember my nephew, Max? I’ve been writing about him for 26ish years.
Perhaps you remember this interview from when he was four? Or Actual Factual Toilet Repair?
If you’re a more recent reader, you might remember when he turned me to dust by saying, “I always forget how long ago the 90s were.”
I promise not to go through all 23-pages worth of Max-specific posts, even though I kinda want to. Just two more, and then I’ll get to the point.
Remember that time he put that note in the popcorn when we saw “Madagascar?” Or, and here comes the foreshadowing, when he was seven and talked about making a movie?
Well, it’s taken him a twentyish years, but Maxwell is making a fabulous production! And, you can help.
While this isn’t Max’s first movie, he graduated with a BA in Film Studies in May, this is the first one where he needs to raise money to get it made.
Man, how do you people with children do this?
It’s hard not to sound condescending and be all, “look how cute he is, working with a team of people to write and direct a movie.” SO CUTE!
Do you with grown-upish children still think it’s adorable when they do things that aren’t actually cute? Like, “OMG, Owen was so cute with his pitch deck getting ready for the quarterly marketing meeting!” Is that a thing? Please tell me it is.
I’m just so proud of and scared for him. And, frankly, super impressed.
Writers get to create stuff in a room alone and hope that someone will read is some place far from me.
But movies? There’s so much stuff. They go over a lot of stuff involved and where the money will go on the Seed & Spark site.
I could burst with all the stuff I want to tell you about him so you’ll part with your hard-earned cash. I’ll probably do that later, in another post.
Right now, I’ll ask you again to help if you have the means. If you don’t, I get it. Ya girl is on the dole, so I understand the tightness of a budget. But maybe you could share this fundraiser with some people who may have disposable income and want to support independent film and young filmmakers?
There are incentives you can choose from on the site, but I want to sweeten the pot for you, Darling Ones. Send me a screenshot of your donation and I will send you a thank you gift I made with my own hands!
What will it be? Who knows? Maybe a scarf. Or an amigurumi toy. Or a little notebook I made from scrap paper and garbage. Maybe some art? I won’t be able to send things until after the second Wednesday of January, because that’s when I get the dole, but I’ll totally send it.
Thank you, thank you, thank you,
Jodi
