How the Internet failed me and then modestly redeemed itself

Today has been filled with all kinds of epiphanies, both major and minor. Epiphanies that I am in the process of sorting out into words that I can share with the Internet. Having epiphanies is a lot of work. It involves what may look like staring into space or looking blankly at a muted TV, but is actually thinking.

This is the part where the Internet fails me, because while I was thinking I was thinking about thinking and how nobody hardly ever thinks anymore because we’re too busy doing. Then I got to thinking about that song that was all “think, think, thiiinnnnnkkkk.” For a long time I couldn’t remember what song those three words were from. When I finally figured out it’s the Thinking Chair song from “Blue’s Clues,” I was going to post a video of Steve singing the song. Only you can’t find a video of Steve singing the song anywhere on the Internet.

Go ahead, look. I dare you.

So instead of the Thinking Chair song you get this totally kick ass Nixon 1972 campaign commercial that I found while playing with the YouTube Time Machine (I was playing with it in hopes that some sort of “Blue’s Clues” video would pop up in 1997).

I wanted just the song. . . there’s a lot of him singing the song in 10+ minute videos (that apparently someone made by pointing a camera at their tv. . . that’s dedication).

    I should have been clearer.

My first guess was Winnie the Pooh because he always says, “Fink. Fink. Fink.”
