It must have been last night or the night before when I got the instant message from Sister #4.
“Just so you’re in the loop,” she said. “I’m moving back to Minnesota. Don’t worry I’ll live with Mom and Dad, Sister #2, or Sister #3.”
“Oh,” I said, because I am a kind and supportive sister who loses all verbal capacity when blindsided.
She’s been having job troubles and finally had enough. She quit her job in Idaho Friday afternoon and will be working here in Minnesota on the 29th of May. Things are never dull in my family for more than 10 minutes. I was going to write about how I never thought I’d admit it, but that I kind of missed her mindless, never-ending melodrama.
But then I got the e-mail.
According to the 1,000 word (yes I counted) e-mail she just sent out to 26 people (yes, I know, the counting) she just really missed the “love and support” of her family. She said she can’t wait to live with Sister #3 (and the Tibbles). She said she really missed being an aunt to her niece and four nephews and is looking forward to giving them some of the Aunt KeKe time they missed out on while she went to go “find herself” in Idaho.
God.
So I e-mailed Sister #3 asking her if it was too early to start making fun of Sister #4 or if I have to wait until she’s back home.
“I love her dearly,” Sister #3 said. “But she’s clearly delusional.”
That, my friends, is what sisterhood is all about.
I count things too. I hope its not a retarded form of autism. Retarded as in the opposite of advanced because I can’t quite think of the word I mean.
Trust me I’m old enough to be retarded. Not that that’s what I’m saying you are, because clearly you’re not. I just meant that I count things too.
And hello, since I’m not lurking for once!
Latent!
The word I was looking for is latent.
It only occurred to me after I’d posted.
Maaan. Speaking from personal experience, I think she’s going to regret moving back this soon! But that’s just my opinion.
I concur.
You should give a new place/start/life at least a year to really see if it’s for you.
Just my 2c.
Wendy & Keith, I totally agree with both of you. But, she did not ask my advice. So, I am wisely, keeping my mouth shut on this one.
You are a much better person than I! 🙂
Also, we need a dinner date again soon.
