almost done with the blathering, i promise

doesn’t just seeing all those names on the tickets make your heart beat all goofy? i know mine does.

this is probably sacrilege but i cannot deny that the gear daddies were my favorite part of last night’s show. i think it was seeing LaFrenz that did it. him, the gear daddies and college are inextricably linked in my mind. so to hear them sing “time heals” after hugging him, well it just made me 22 all over again.

it was funny that i even spotted him in that crowd. i was just leaning against a pole, talking to sister #2 and the stink, when i looked at her and said, “i’ll be right back.” i followed LaFrenz to the bar, and then poked him in the back. he turned around and his face lit up and then we were hugging. it was fucking fabulous. then we chatted a bit, he tried to take a picture with his phone to show all the guys at ian’s wedding next weekend. i told him now that they are all married off, i’m officially younger.

it was so good to see him.

one of the westernerds was complaining about the frat-rockness of the gear daddies, on the message board. here was my response:
for some of us who went to college in the early 90s the gear daddies just so encapsulate those years and what it’s like to see him walk into the bar with another girl and the only thing you can do is put ‘boys will be boys’ on the jukebox and sing along.

it was even more perfect for some of us, because the him who made us sing that song so damn often was actually there last night and we got to hug him again for old time’s sake.

then to see the past crush and one of the present crushes all in one night was phenomenal. sweet rob cutely geeked out about the show and the upcoming westerberg pantages shows. it was so so so cute. plus i got to make him all jealous with my KICKASS row E seats for the sunday show (see i’m not the only crazy stalker person going to all three shows).

darling ones, it was just such an awesome night. to see all that rock history on one stage in one night, well i’m just lucky to be alive. man, this is going to go down in the record books as one of the top 10 memories of all time.

I often wish I cared about something as passionately as you seem to.

I thought the Gear Daddies were the best band of the night, the crowd seemed into them the most as well.

    UH, whatever do you mean?

I mean that you seem genuinely enthused about a lot of things. You have this passion about music, and writing, and so forth – and I just can’t seem to muster up the will to care that much about any of it any more. It must be age catching up with me or something.
