The esoteric knowledge of the writers at The Onion staggers me. But to think that Neil Gaiman fans would go attack Dr. Who fans is going a little too far.
We’d clearly sic the Anime weirdos on them and not stoop to muddying our own fragile goth mitts.

First, it’s MANGA not Anime (Confusing Anime with Manga would be like comparing Legends of the Dark Knight to Superfriends. Manga is a beautiful ART rooted in ancient Japanese etchings and mythology. The subtle concept of the anti-hero is lost on you because you can’t grasp how beautiful it truly is to see a man’s tortured soul finally accept his feelings for a violent and well armed cat-girl in a sailor’s uniform. You need your McFarlanes and your Frank Millers to make flash superheros who are so morally polarized that kitchen magnets probably stick to them (snort-chuckle.) So next time watch who you’re calling “hentai”. (That’s “wierdo” for you uneducated, BASIC Dungeons and Dragons playing, comic book types!)
(NOTE: Read this comment out loud in the most nasaly, whining voice you can muster for the maximum effect. Thank you.)
You know I’ve actually HAD people try to delineate the subtelty between Manga an Anime to me with a straight face.
That was funny.
Since I’m having a geek fit though, Miller generally sucks and don’t even get me started on McFarlane.

Miller sucks?!?! Nope. Didn’t hear it. Couldn’t be possible. If Alan Moore is comic’s Poe, the Miller is it’s Ellroy. Dark Knight Returns (warning… full-on geek overload) is like Shakespeare. Hamlet or MacBeth-style Shakespeare. And while his Daredevil days look tame now, they were stunning at the time.
Sorry. I won’t read Alan Moore either. Any adult who puts on robes and publicly proclaims himself a Magi doesn’t get to sell me funny books. “Watchmen” isn’t all that great as I see it. I know the details are really deep but the story is really dull.
“Dark Knight” is astounding. “300” is really good. Can’t think of anything else since Daredevil I’d give a second glance to.
Is this a wholly inappropriate place to say these things?

In public, as an adult; Yes, it is.
However, if you’re Gen-Slack, it’s perfectly acceptable. I hope you’re not offended, though, if I don’t sit next to you at the reunion…

I did not pee my pants…didn’t even laugh that hard.
I was more amused with the dorkwads arguing in this site’s comments section…

McFarlane is a putz… but a talented one.
Oh dear Lord, what have I unleashed THIS time…
