when you say let it be, some people automatically think of the beatles. those people would not be cool. it’s a great test you should try it out. cool people, when you say let it be, automatically think of the best replacements record ever released.
the best. even with the craptastically craptastic song “black diamond” thrown on the album, let it be is the replacements best album. ever.
meet me any place or any where at any time, oh i don’t care meet me tonight. if you will dare, i will dare.
the record starts out with that jangly guitar sound from ‘I Will Dare.’ just hearing those jangles is enough to make my heart start beating a little goofy and make my face break out into a grin. i don’t know if there’s any more that i can say about this song that i haven’t already said about 3202,938 times before. when you a song your motto, when you get it tattooed on your body, when you name your web site after it, well i think that probably speaks enough about how much that one song means to you.
and that’s only the beginning! there are five other songs on the album that are pure rock and roll genius: ‘Androgynous,’ ‘Sixteen Blue,’ ‘Seen Your Video,’ ‘Unsatisfied,’ and ‘Answering Machine.’
my mind boggles at even attempting to try to find the words to explain how much these songs mean to me.
Got my first copy of Let It Be when I was 17…made me wanna throw my Bob Seger albums away. When my turntable died, I had to search the greater Milwaukee area for a cassette copy. That and Pleased To Meet Me are always in the car with me. I think ya got a good chance of hearing ‘I Will Dare’ 3 times this weekend.
