It’s coming down, there’s a blessing on the ground

It's Coming Down
I’m like a little kid steadfastly perched in front of the TV waiting breathlessly for my school to appear under the School Closings banner.

It’s blizzarding outside and I STILL haven’t rewritten my story. This amount of procrastination is hard for even my mind to comprehend.

So here I sit be-jammaed working from home and praying for a snow day

In my entire life I have never, ever had a “Snow Day”. What a bizarre concept.

Today our school had a delayed start schedule, but the district website said it was a regular day. So since my husband had to snow plow the driveway and had a late start, he drove our girls and two neighbor girls to school, only to find it empty.

After an hour spent at the local coffee house buying ice cream for four kids, he just now got to work. Needless to say, he was steamed a little. He wanted to get double espressos for each kid so they would be incredibly wired at school. But that might stunt their growth.

I declared my own snow day. My boss declared back that after this, I’d better get to work unless it closes. Unfortunately for him, I’m not on the die-getting-to-work payscale.

Very smart! I think all business should close. Is risking your life on the road really worth the money? Corporate America can kiss mother nature’s ass.

We were issued an email the other day from management to make sure we leave for work in plenty of time to arrive safely and ON TIME.

    Corporate America- just like mom.

For me this is all fascinating. I come from a place (Sydney) where if it gets below zero celcius in the winter all our toes curl up. I saw snow once, but I had to drive 6 and a half hours in the dead of winter to see it. The idea of having a snow day is so foreign, but having said that we DO call off school etc. if the temps go above 45 degrees C (which I think is around 113) in the summer.
