I think I knew who I thought I was

The fact that tomorrow is New Replacements CD Day is probably more of a strong influencer on my mood than I care to admit. I got a bit of a tongue-lashing from the philistines in my bookclub about being a Westernerd. They were none too amused that I made a Neighborhoodies t-shirt that will proudly proclaim me as a “Westersexual.” Which to me and any other Westernerd will be the funniest thing ever.

Of course all their deriding of Westerberg’s musical genius must be taken with a grain of salt. Because at the very same bookclub Sister #4 talked about how she had spent nearly $600 on concert tickets for the summer. These concerts include the Dixie Chicks, Pearl Jam, and perhaps NOFX on the Warped Tour (though I think she might nixed that one).

This prompted my BFK to announce that she really “wanted to see Rob Thomas and Jewel.”

After I got done wiping the vomit from my chin, I drove a crucifix through her chest because clearly she’s been possessed by the devil.

Rob Thomas and Jewel? I am currently re-evaluating her status as my friend.

You and my friend Tony are the two worst music snobs I know. And the weird part is you both have the same taste in music.

    I’m a big metal-head – Tool/System of a Down/Slipknot type of guy and I’m still your friend. Right?

I agree that both Jewel and Rob Thomas suck equally hard, but let’s not judge.

Can’t we all just get along?

No we cannot all get along. We must judge harshly and often. How else will I be able to base my self-worth on my superior musical tastes?

Don’t be hating on the Chicks; they are my idols right now .

It’s fair game on Rob Thomas and Jewel though.

I actually dig the Chicks and have no ill feelings towards them at all.

jesus! everyone knows that the only reason to go to warped this year is the mighty against me! and maybe joan jett. but come on… nofx? how many thousands of warped tours could she have seen them play already? plus, when i’ve watched them, they spend 3/4 of their 30 min. set making stupid jokes and talking TO EACH OTHER. lame.
against me!, though… gives me chills every time i see them. damn.

Good Morning America hosts a series of concerts right across the street from me. They already had the Dixie Chicks. Fortunately, Rob Thomas and Jewel got rained out.
The only appearance on the schedule I am excited about is Prince this Friday. If I can’t roll myself out of bed early enough, at least I can just open the window and listen.

A big second on the Against Me!

Westersexual is brilliant. I just now made it through the rest of the post because of the Westersexual hoodie thing.

    $600.00?

    Gulp.
