after 29 it all sounds the same

i was driving in to work this morning listening to a bootleg from mike doughty’s boston show and when he started singing “true dreams of wichita” i tried to turn ruby’s radio up as loud as i could and it appear that after you get to 29 it either doesn’t get any louder or all that loudness just sounds the same to my untrained ear.

Hi. This comment is not at all related to your post, by the way. That said, you really, really must read Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell.

    Okay then.

I’d explain SPL theory, but then I’d have to wake you from your coma.

Suffice it to say that increasing the SPL 3 decibels requires doubling the amplification wattage.

SPL is “sound pressure level”, BTW.

BTW is “by the way”, BTW.

Did he cover “the book of love” on that bootleg? I so love the way he does that song. I’m pretty much obsessed with it lately.
