the perfect toy for the ADDed music junkie

i cannot say enough how utterly in love i am with the new pimped out ruby. i mean, really this 12 CD changer thing is the best thing to happen to me since i got my license (after four tries).

why’s it so wonderful? because you don’t have to wait for the tape to get to the next song you want to sing and you don’t have to wait three hours for the radio to play a song you dig. you can just flit about from CD to CD from song to song and it’s fucking fun. more fun than one should probably have alone in a moving vehicle. really.

on the way home i started out with Modest Mouse’s “All Night Diner” but that song makes me grind my hips in a way that’s reminscent of sexstuff, so i had to quick flip it to Wilco’s “Box Full of Letters.” After singing the “i just can’t find the time to write my mind the way i want it to read part,” i quickly jumped to The Shin’s “Kissing the Lipless.”

see how this works? by the time i got home i had listened to Self (“Potential” and “Paint by Numbers”, The Replacements (“Achin’ to Be”), Death Cab for Cutie (“The Sound of Settling”), the Counting Crows (“Accidentally in Love”) four times, Soul Coughing (“4 out of 5”), Jet (“Are You Gonna be My Girl”), Modest Mouse (“Float On”) and Paul Westerberg (“Things” and “Wild and Lethal”).

i only live about 25-30 minutes from home. see how this could be dangerous?

You have me beat out by 6 CD’s… But… Do you have the Shrek 2 soundtrack in your player? No? I thought not.

    Heh.

That was an insufferably smug and self-satisfied “heh”, just so you know.

If you think a 12 disc CD changer is great, you should try an iPod. Oh baby, you’ll never listen to a CD again.
