well, i officially came out of the blog closet tonight at grumpy’s. while i waxed psychotic about my story that is due IN SEVEN DAYS, nance asked me if i was going to write about the writing process on my blog.
“you read it?” i asked.
“oh yeah,” she said. kelly links to it.”
“yeah, i’m going to write about the writing process on my blog. how else will i procrastinate?”
“good.”
so for nance, possible first lines i invented on my drive home that took about 39 hours because for some reason 169 was all backed up.
? angel walked into the room carrying the dictionary and crying.
? it’s my job to put the sprinkles on the donuts.
? albert never wants to let me take my break, because i keep falling asleep.
? pete liked the way she gave back change
? his lips let go of my nipple and i felt him rest his head between my breasts. ‘i’m seeing someone,’ he said.
that’s all i got so far.
oh, i’d say any one of those is packing something good!
I vote for the sprinkles on the donuts line.
That is the one that hooked me.
I think the first is the winner in my book. There are a dictionary’s worth of possibilities there. A big fight over a word, and she got it wrong? Scrabble for your life and she just lost a challenge? Her picture IS next to the word her boyfriend said it was? Endless, baby, endless.
I’m with Kevin.
You know I’m all about the nipple.
I like the doughnuts combined with the break. Perhaps the “break” means to work the register where Pete appreciated the way she gave change back.
Is she contemplating the change and thinking of the changes she wants to make in life, so engrossed in contemplation she falls asleep, again!
