It’s a boy bag, I guess

I carried an Esprit wallet-on-a-string thing for most of 1994. It’s actually bigger than a wallet, but so much smaller than a traditional purse. Today Nolan unearthed it from the depths of the toy box and has been scurrying around Supergenius HQ looking for stuff to put in it.

So far he’s gotten two of my business cards, seventy-six cents, an old Barnes & Noble giftcard, an orange pencil, and my MPR member connect card. He wears it slung across his body, messenger-bag style and keeps asking me to take him shopping so he can buy a toy with his money.

I used to carry one of those, too, probably at about the same time. I needed a place to carry all my ID, checkbook, smokes and lighter, and I rarely wore anything with pockets.

Since I gave up smoking, I now carry a planner.
