Haunted by the ghost of a memory of Maurice Sendak and Carole King

As I mentioned earlier, I’ve had the Carly Simon song “Mockingbird” stuck in my head for the entire week. It bothered me endlessly because whenever I would sing the song I’d have these Maurice Sendak-esque cartoons accompanying my singing. The more my obsessed about it, the more concrete the cartoons became. It wasn’t until this morning that something solidified in my memory — it wasn’t Mockingbird and it wasn’t Carly Simon. No, It’s Chicken Soup and Carole King.

I can’t even remember where or when I saw these cartoons. Maybe they were on Sesame Street or The Great Space Coaster. I do remember loving them. Especially this one about Pierre who didn’t care:

Do you ever get that feeling like you’re the smartest person on earth because you finally remembered something that had been bugging you, something you knew that you knew the answer to? That’s how I feel right now.

Oh Oh and here’s One Was Johnny. How can I still remember these lyrics? It’s probably been at least 25 years since I’ve seen these cartoons.

Wow, cartoons from when kids were expected to have attention spans longer then nine seconds. What a blast from the past!

I love Really Rosie! It was my favorite movie when I was little. I used to insist on taking it out from the library every time we went.
