Ten-year-old Princess Jaycie has decided she’s a playwright. She and her BFF Katie are working on a play. Jaycie sends me new versions of it about every other day. Because I’ve been totally OCD about working on my portfolio, I haven’t read any of the versions of the play.
This has displeased the princess. I came home yesterday to this e-mail:
Why have you not responded to my play? It makes me sad that you have not replied. 🙁

She should get used to it–let her know that editors often take anywhere from 3 months to over a year to respond to a manuscript. As long as you’re still under a month, you’re totally golden.
Good point. I hadn’t thought of that. I am totally going to use that line on her when I see her tonight.
