The Wafer Cookie Taste Test

Sometime last week during Lunchclub my co-workers and I got to arguing about wafer cookies, and the various flavors. I was arguing that instead of tasting like chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla the cookies actually tasted like brown, pink, and white. There really was no discernable flavor.

This was quite a controversial charge, and the gauntlet was thrown down. We were going to have a wafer cookies taste test to determine if there was any actual flavor.

Today was the blind taste test. We gathered in our lunchroom and Jayto adjudicated. H., Al, the cutest girl on earth™, the Dougs, and I sat with our eyes closed as Jayto handed us a cookie. We then write down (yes with our eyes closed, which prompted me to announce, “I feel like Helen Keller.” H. then replied, “You can hear still so shut up.”).

After trying all three cookies Jayto announced our results. The Dougs and Al got all three cookies right. H. and I did not fair so well.

So the results are inconclusive. I can admit that there is a distinct flavor to each cookies. However, I am pretty damn sure that it’s not chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry.

brown definitely tastes like chocolate. white tastes like sugar. pink tastes like spoiled sugar.

sugar-free ‘sugar’ wafers taste like sawdust.

I had this same argument with one of my friends –> We agree with wolfdog. We can tell that chocolate is chocolate – but the white and strawberry taste the same. Pink just more stale. It’s the texture of the wafer cookie that is the point of eating one –> not the flavor. 😀

Forget the flavor. Try smearing them with peanut butter. Smooth is easier to do, but crunchy is worth the effort. The combination is transcendent.
