I was late for work this morning because I spent all my before work time obsessively Googling a song lyric. This morning’s Post-It Note song was stuck in my head, but I had no idea what it was.
I just had a line and melody playing on repeat, “I won’t tell anybody something something something use my body, gof for it.” It played Over and Over and Over and Over and Over and Over. I had no idea what the song was.
It had a Killers’ vibe going on, so I thought maybe it was some Killers song that I didn’t know I knew. I went out to Amazon and listened to every song on both their albums.
I Googled different variations of the lyrics that I had in my head — Nothing. Eventually I started beating my head on the desk, hoping it would jar something lose.
Then it came to me, “My body is your body, I won’t tell anybody, If you want to use my body, go for it.”
The chorus had returned to me. Praise be!
After a bit more Googling, I came up with We Are Scientists.
I’m not sure I’ve ever even heard of this band. I have no idea where it came from and how it got stuck in my head.
So I’ve decided that one of you who is much smarter than me should go back to school and double PhD in something like brain studies and music lyrics, and what it means when you wake up singing random songs you aren’t even sure you heard of.
It probably means I’m some kind of musical savant, but it’d be nice to have some research to back me up on that one.
