“He fought for the voiceless, the homeless, the poor, the little guy — in this country and beyond. He was a politician but not a robot; an idealist, but not a sap, and if his legacy has already morphed into myth, it’s because there were/are so few like him.”
— Jim Walsh on Paul Wellstone
A few weeks ago at Bookclub, Sister #2 told everyone about Paul Wellstone and what he meant to her. As she talked about him, how he was her hero, and how she strives to live and act like him, she started to cry. “I just loved him so much,” she said through her tears.
It was the most moving memorial I could think of for our fallen senator. I know Sister #2 is only one of the people he touched at the deepest level, the level that causes you to change the way you live. And I’m honored to know her and to know that she will carry on Wellstone’s legacy in everything she does.
