The hit-by-a-truck feeling is the sign of a good weekend

It’s not even 11 o’clock and I have the overwhelming desire to curl up next to the dishwasher and fall asleep. I choose the dishwasher only because it’s currently washing, and well I’m proud of myself for that. I hosted bookclub tonight and had the dishes all picked up and in the dishwasher before Sister #2 and the kidlings had even pulled out of the driveway. It’s a first in Supergenius history.

I feel a little bit like I got hit by a truck tonight. This weekend kicked my ass. Between the family drama (UPDATE: the sister is now staying at her house, which is a good sign), and my sudden need to paint the dining room (it’s a lovely shade of green called asparagus), I’m physically and emotionally tapped out.

We’re coming to that point in the summer where you just long for fall. I’m ready to slow down, spend some time reflecting, writing, and being by myself. I love summer and the socialness of it, but right now I could use a good week to myself doing nothing but practicing, reading, writing, and being.
