Can we talk a bit about the utter wonderfulness of Liz Phair’s second album Whip-Smart? I love this album. I can’t say that I love it more than Exile in Guyville, because there is a lot of my coming of age wrapped up in that one. But there just seems to be no love for poor Whip-Smart and damnit, we should all recognize.

I’ve been listening to Whip-Smart all day today. It’s one of the few albums I can listen to when I’m writing, and I’ve been writing my ass off this week. Which I guess isn’t so bad, since it’s my job.

Incidentally, if you’re wondering what to get the Supergenius for the 6th anniversary of iwilldare.com (on July 31st and y’all better recognize) get me Whip-Smart on vinyl.

See, I need to finish the Fortress of Solitude one of these days and it will not be complete until I have Whip-Smart on vinyl. So help a sister out and buy it for her.
