Lose yourself in the moment, in the music

One of my favorite largehearted boy features is book notes, where some author talks about the music they listened to while writing their book.

As some of you regular darling ones might notice, iwilldare.com got a facelift yesterday and it was completed while listening to a soundtrack that was most unusual to me.

I’m a very moody music listener. I can only listen to tunes I’m in the mood for. I’m also quite swayed by the music I listen to, and if I’m shuffling away and hear certain songs, my mood can plummet.

Since “web design” (and that’s in quotes because I am so not a designer and/or coder or any sort of Web guru of any kind) can be a bit tedious (especially when you’re kind of clueless on exactly what you’re doing). So I had to put together something that would sonically pump me up. It is the most unjodi playlist I’ve ever made. That being said, I danced my ass off. Even taking breaks to get up and bust a few moves around the loft.

My Humps, Black Eyed Peas I finally feel like a knowledgeable member of pop culture society. I had never even listened to this entire song until yesterday, and I love it. It’s pure corn and cheese, and what’s not to love about that shit. I’m just trying to dance boy and move my hump.

The Rockafeller Skank, Fatboy Slim I am totally a funk soul brother.

Lose Yourself, Eminem Sisters #2 & #4 are obsessed with the Slim Shady. I tease Sister #2 about it mercilessly. There just seems something slightly off about someone whose Top Six musical artists are:
The Dixie Chicks
Pearl Jam
Bob Mould (and along with the Husker Du & Sugar)
Eminem
The Cure
Social Distortion
However, this song is awesome. I remember my friend ChiliD raving about Eminem as a writer and how his lyrics are so visceral and personal that you can’t help but listen. I think he’s right. Besides if you don’t like that little “You better lose yourself in the music, the moment, you want it, you better never let it go” you’re probably dead from the waist down.

Oops I did it again, Britney Spears

Shhh!, Atmosphere First song ever, ever played on 89.3 The Current. Plus I just like it’s ‘I love the midwest theme.’ Because, I do love the Midwest.

Never Gonna Come Back Down, Mike Doughty

Hips Don’t Lie, Shakira Yeah, this song totally gives me a hardon.

Letter from an Occupant, The New Pornographers

No Scrubs, TLC

Galang, M.I.A and apparently they won’t let her back in the country

Do Me Baby, Bel Biv Devoe Because sometimes I like to shake it like it’s 1991.

Praise You, Fatboy Slim The people in the video for this song dance better than I do.

Jump Around, House of Pain Because sometimes I like to shake it like it’s 1993 (or was that 1994?)

It Takes Two, Rob Base

Jeepster, T-Rex

Chicken Payback, The Bees

Body Movin’, The Beastie Boys

99 Problems, Jay-Z I heard this one when the Vodo and Kelly did karaoke, it’s awesome. “I got 99 problems and a bitch ain’t one.”
