first of all, i’ve nearly finished listening to 1984 and while it’s kinda breaking my heart and blowing my mind all at the same time, i’m totally enamoured with New Speak and want to use it whenever i can. sadly, the opportunity has not come up at all. which blows.
second of all, i have 270 pages left in Crime and Punishment. this in and of itself should be a minor miracle because i’ve been reading this book for roughly 4 years (ok, really it’s closer to 2 months). however, this is not a miracle rather a cause for giant concern. see, this is a book we picked for bookclub and well, bookclub is tonight. i really, really want to have the book finished. so that means instead of sitting here listening to Mike Doughty songs so i can make a kick-ass mix CD for aden, i should be reading about Rodya, Dunya and Sonya.
What is New Speak?
NewSpeak is the language used in 1984, a simplified version of English, yeah? Jodi, I’ll read 1984 and then we can use NewSpeak together.
to bellyfeel newspeak is doubleplusungood.
ohhh right. I think I read the book in 1983, so I forgot.
