because the gods of money and commerce and all things financial have shined down their benevolence on me, i am going to order my iBook this weekend (and all you macrumor people can suck it because i know they are gonna release a new super swanky iBook, probably on tuesday, but i don’t care).
so here’s the new dilemma (besides the new bag that has to go with the new iBook). what to name it?
i’ve had owen, oberon, and ogden for computers. roland, roland II the electric boogaloo, and kathleen turner overdrive for my iPod.
and of course there is my beloved truck ruby (and past vehicle names that have included: sugar, the silver bullet, clyde, the bitchen buick with the cutlass supreme door, and grover).
what shall i call the iBook? does a new platform call for a new letter, do we ditch the O? well?
Ida?
Florence Griffith-Joyner (FloJo for short), and here, in a one-act play, is why:
You, to FloJo: “What is it that you do?”
FloJo: “I book.”

i vote for abandoning the o. after all it has ox0928309820, right? that’s enough o’s.
i’m a fan of carlos.
whatever you do, don’t name it Opal. my previous iBook was an Opal and she was always ALWAYS in the shop. 5 times in a 13 month period with the same problem. i’ve come to the conclusion that the name is cursed. 🙂
Andrew, Harold, Xavier… or Emmett. I think Emmett The iBook has a nice ring to it.
Name it, “Will Tupper the Computronic Wonder!”
PERFECT! 🙂
Oroborous? Osiris? My iBook is unnamed. My ex’s cat peed on it.
Oh, and check your email. Or let me know if you’re ignoring it.
Hi!
I’m a lurker who’s decided to unlurk (its a word, trust me,) this once just to suggest names for the new machine.
How about Oliver, Orestes or Othello?
Earl.
another mostly-lurker – what about Barry Jive, or Sonic Death Monkey, in keeping with the high fidelity references?
Alternatively, what about Oop, or Ogre? They both fit in with the “O” theme, and are both references to Microserfs, varying in obscurity (the latter’s *really* pretty obscure, and doubleplusbonus to whoever gets it)
i have no suggestions, but please don’t call it lucy. that’s my ibook’s name and she’s already having an identity crisis because my friend named her gnome lucy, too.
Orion?
One word:
Jonagold
I have it. You can take it. I am not using it. It is Abernathy. Yes, that’s right. Abernathy.
THE NEW CORRECT ANSWER IS:
SUPERCALAFRAGALISTICIBOOKALADOCIOUS!!!
You’re welcome 🙂
