after so many years in a row of birthday splendor from my friends and family, you’d think that i would be used to it. but i’m not. and for some reason, this year seems to be getting to me more than years past.

today i’m a weepy mess of a birthday girl. it’s just all so so so that i can’t even say a thing. i just stand there smiling as big as i can and blinking back big watery tears.

the table next to my desk is filled with fruit and donut holes and flowers, there’s been a beautiful lunch outside with my favorite girly workerfriends, and tonight a bbq with the sisterclub. it’s just so much more than one person deserves.

how do you say thank you to people for reminding you that you are capable of being loved? i haven’t figured out a good way to do it yet.

in other birthday events, i got the all-time king of kickass mix cds from my friend zook. it’s called “songs that remind me of jodi” and really how am i not going to love that?

it includes old favorites like dead flowers by the rolling stones, pretty in pink, living room by tegan and sara, ruby soho (which though my ruby was named after the kenny rogers’ song, this is actuall her name– ruby soho chromey). plus there are all these super thoughtful songs that i’d never heard but when i listen to them, they even remind me of myself! and and and, best of all. there are these hilarious mallrats and jay & silent bob strike back clips. like the scene from mallrats where jason lee talks about superman and lois lane having sex. yes! jason lee, superman, and sex. does life get any better than that? i don’t think so.
