the rules of the dark

one of the westernerds was talking about how he was trying to make his 2-year-old son feel better about the dark. which reminded me of my own battles with being scared of the dark.

first, as a kid, i completely convinced myself that monsters were afraid of the dark, just like me. this only worked for me, because i wholly believed that there was an international monster law that forbid them from coming out in the light. i also believed that a monster would never disobey this law.

also, i still kinda believe that an axe murderer will cannot chop off your head if you pull the covers all the way up to your chin. because even the axe muderer has a code of honor that he must uphold, and that code includes not chopping off heads where the neck is covered with blankets.
