“guess what?” i screeched into the phone.
“what?” sister #2 asked.
“the tickets, they sold out in 45 minutes.”
“WAHOOO!” she shouted. “how do you know?”
“i was reading it on my paul westerberg message board.”
“wow, we’re so lucky. i rock.” she said, referring to my panic-induced ticket buying snafu that caused her to have to swoop in and save the day.
“you do rock, i am so excited.”
“wait a minute,” she said.
“there’s a paul westerberg message board and you post to it?”
“yeah. almost all bands have them,” i said.
“how do you know?” she asked.
“i just do,” i said.
“what other ones do you post to?”
“just the paul westerberg one.”
“you don’t have to hide your dirty fanboy secrets from me.”
“really, just paul westerberg,” i said.
“oookkkk,” she said, totally not believing me.
“oh come on, if there were a bill clinton message board you’d post all the time.”
“is there one?”
“i don’t know,” i said.
“i’m gonna have to check that out as soon as the kids go to bed.”
and then we talked about the weird juju and she made me feel totally better about it all. i think i’ll be able to not barf all night. instead, i will watch “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” and hope it makes me cry big tension relieving tears.
