i went to my first writer’s group meeting today. it fucking rocked, and on so many levels. i mean we got together and talked a little about books and what not. then we talked about the stories two of us had written. and i just loved it. even though they are pointing out problems with my own story, i still love it. it’s just so exhilirating to talk about writing and the craft with people who actually care and aren’t just politely listening to me ramble on aimlessly about something i’m so passionate about.

and really, the best part are mel and jodie, two 30something women who are smart and funny, and a lot like me. i just adore them. best of all, they like to gush endlessly about beautiful robert.

it was just so damn wonderful. i’m feeling all energized and inspired now.

Sounds like I missed out on a good time. But you know I’m not into writing like you are. Was it just the three of you?

I’ve been wanting to join a writers’ group forever. But I keep chickening out because that would mean I’d have to leave the house and be (gasp) social!

I’ve made a promise to myself that once we’re settled in Maine, I’m joining one and if I can’t find one, I’m starting one.

(I’d thought about finding an online one… but I’d rather see the reaction to my writing, you know?)

Keep me posted on how it goes.

tam, that’s what kept me from joining one for so long. i think i’m anti-social by nature. but this was so rewarding that i can see it getting addictive.
