finally, an update

sister #2 just called. it’s not good. the aneurysm is 7 cm– too big for them to do anything about. the size of it could kill her any second, or it could do nothing at all.

the cancer, it’s bad.

tomorrow my mom meets with the oncologist to discuss the options for the how grammu will spend the rest of her life.

Most unfortunate news, still, it is better to know. Hope the cnacer is treatable, although with that large an anurism, the prognosis won’t be good.

Take care of yourself, 3 hugs, one long smooch and a chin-chuck. 🙂

Talk to her about anything she wants to talk about, real or imaginary.

Talk to her about what she wants to do next week. Or tomorrow.

Ask her things she liked as a girl. Ask her where she was when Armstrong landed on the moon.

Ask her what her favorite TV shows have been, if she ever disobeyed her parents, or if your own parental unit disobeyed her.

Just ask questions and listen. It’s those stories that you’ll carry with you forever. They may be fuel for your novels or they may be stored deep inside you, only revealed when you’re the grammu.

Don’t cry yet, Jodi. She’s still there. Be happy to be with her and listen.

Is this a time that you can be comforted by strangers?
