and the article said we were “absolutely adorable”

last night, after having a bon voyage dinner for sister #4 (she leaves for a whirlwind tour of france, italy and germany today) we had to stop at the bowling alley to pick up the fundraiser stuff athesist sister #2’s kids had to participate in for their catholic pre-school.

so, i’m sitting at the bar, and dad tosses the latest issue of Bowling Center Management at me. there’s some sort of article (i didn’t read it) that interviews dad and spotlights ol DPL. he was so proud and his quotes were so good. i was so happy for him.

but then he brought out these absolutely hideous carpet samples that he plans on putting on the walls (the current wall carpeting is about 50 years old and it’s brown) and then i wasn’t so proud.

sure, if you don’t mind the smell of 50 years of second hand smoke and bowling shoes.

They loved brown shag in the ’70’s… watching all these old TV shows, all I can see are the frightening Clockwork Orange interiors and avacado greens, oranges, faux wood, paisley wallpaper, and I wonder if everyone in America was in some sort of collective trance… *shiver* When did Ikea come about? Maybe the Swedes saved us…

Um, not that Ikea is super-high art or anything, but its a cultural step up…
