my heart like gasoline

i’d link to the strib’s review of the westerberg show, but i don’t like it. so there! i hate when people keep comparing solo westerberg to the replacements and how he’s not as boisterous and what not as he used to be.

duh? he’s 42 years old now. sheesh, i’d criticize the hell out of him if he were still acting like a doofy 22 year old.

eventually i will shut up about the concert, but i wouldn’t plan on that happening anytime soon.

when you finally get a chance to sit not 100 feet from your hero and listen to him sing not only your favorite song in the whole wide world (i will dare) but the song you think you’d sound like if you were an actual song (achin’ to be) it sort of has a lasting effect on you.

I agree. I hate that people still expect Paul to be the frontman of the Replacements. Hell, we’ve all grown up, why isn’t he allowed to? I was at the Monday night Guthrie show. I was all the way on the right side in the 1st row. I was like 15 ffet from Paul most of the time. It was the closest thing I have ever had to a religious experience. There were times all I could do was sit absolutely spellbound and just be washed over by him pouring out his soul in music. God love him for playing here and for adding the extra show so I could see him. It was everything I expected (I didn’t expect the Replacements) and more. Very intimate and excellent acoustics.
