ok darling ones, i need your sage advice. i am thinking of ditching the ancient kodak dc 280 or whatever brand of digicam i have in hopes of getting a new one.
but which one?
also, i have learned something from this whole ancient digicam debacle. it doesn’t pay to be an early adopter. i paid entirely too much for the hunk of junk when it was all sparkly and new 2 or 3 years ago or whatever.
also, i have learned entirely too much about early adopters because we talk about them all the time at work when we talk about xml and svg– all of which makes my head hurt.

I use the olympus e-10 in my studio and for location shoots, it is very versatile and user friendly. It comes with software for loading images right into photoshop and tons of accessories. Check out more info at http://www.bhphotovideo.com this site is quite helpful.
those kodak’s don’t completely suck. maybe get something shiny and cool, but i use that kodak and it’s adequate. they still get good ratings. good luck with your shopping. 🙂
I love my Olympus D-490 Zoom. I get really great prints from it, and you can take short (up to 60 second) silent movies with it. I never see it reccomended, but I adore it.
I adore my Olympus D-360L. It’s a basic non-zooming 1.3 Megapixel, but it takes great shots and is rugged as hell.
hmm.. 3 Olympuses. I sense a pattern.
I would say it depends on how much you want to pay. You can get a 2 megapixel camera for around $300 nowadays. (Canon Powershot!)
is it sick and wrong that i have a 3 megapixel camera and i’m thinking of upgrading? i’d offer you a good deal on mine when i’m done with it, but the evil munchkin has already called dibs and i guess i can’t argue with that, since it was half his to begin with.
damn, andrea… i lust after your camera. i can pay more than he can! i’m cuter!!
I use the Nikon 800 (2.1 mpxl) bought it 14 months ago for $550. It can be found on eBay or mysimon for just about 200 bucks today.
The replacement for the 800 is called the Nikon 775, and last week Fry’s Electronics featured it for $219.
I love the Nikon, and have taken THOUSANDS of pix in the past year that I never would have bothered with in emulsion.
actually, i think i’ve changed my mind on the digicam thing. ben talked me down from the ledge. i think i might buy a couch instead.
