and monkeys might fly out of my ass

so i saw the monkey movie and i loved it!

i loved it because flying monkeys scare the living piss outta me. it was like i was 7 and watching the flying monkeys in the wizard of oz for the first time. well, the monkeys in planet of the apes really didn’t fly. but they bounced off of walls and made great long jumps and hung from stuff. it was rad.

i liked monkeyville. it was so neat. my only complaint is that i couldn’t keep all the monkeys straight, their names and what not. i only figured out two names ari (who i think they should have just called marla singer to make it easy on everyone) and thade, who was the bad guy.

i really have not much to say. it was a pretty movie. i don’t think about any of the political or societal points it was trying to make. that’d have ruined it. i’m sure if i had seen any other planet of the apes movie ever it might have suffered by comparision. but i hadn’t, so it ruled!

the original movie is just so terrible i can never tell if people are serious when they say they like it. and i can’t tell if the movie was trying to be that bad or what.

but i guess like the first star wars movie is really pretty awful when you look at it, but that never seemed to bother me. and i’m certainly not being all ironic when i say i like it. but of course i don’t really have any concept of life without star wars. and i’m not even one of those weirdo star wars geeks.

but anyway, the point i wanted to make: yes, flying monkeys are terrifying. and the wizard of oz is clearly the scariest movie of all time, with willy wonka a close, very close, second.

see, the most terrfying thing about the wizard of oz is not the flying monkeys. it’s all them little midgets. eeek! i think willy wonka is scarier because the midgets in that movie are much, much freakier looking.

  3. mickmars 30.Jul.01 at 11:17 am

but wizard of oz has both. and that’s why wizard of oz is the scariest movie. because it has flying monkeys AND wacky midgets. willy wonka really only has wacky midgets. of course, the midgets are REALLY wacky. but it still doesn’t beat wacky midgets AND flying monkeys.

mickmars is a blasphemer. The original “Apes” is a classic, bad makeup, Charlton Heston, and all.

And I think what makes the “Wonka” midgets so terrifying is that they seem such subtle manipulators, rather than these sweet little helium-voiced dandies (as in “Oz”).

  5. mickmars 30.Jul.01 at 12:53 pm

so you like it because it is bad, or despite the fact that it is bad?

and don’t let the helium-voices fool you. those wizard of oz midgets are plenty freaky.

i find having the living piss scared out of me to be a somewhat warm at first, then suddenly cold experience.

There ARE bad things about the original, but I don’t think that makes it a bad film. For one thing, the screenplay (coscripted by Rod Serling) is pretty spiffy. And it’s got Maurice Evans!

is there any truth behind the rumor i keep hearing about a munchkin hanging himself in the backround of the movie wizard of oz….if so where in the movie does it happen cause i wanna see that shit

I heard about it the midget hanging himself as well so I watched it to see.I think you have to have one of the original prints. The part where they are skipping and going into the forest, after they see the wicked witch on the roof, they show a side view of them going into the forest. In the foreground you see a shadow by a tree climbing up a ladder or something, then you see him swinging back and forth. It’s all in shadow so it could be speculated. But I thought the same thing as everyone else.Who knows!

I definetly watched the wizard of oz the other night and myboyfriends step brother pointed out themidget hanging himself in thebackground at that scene. It was freaking weird, nowi have a whole new perspective outlook on that movie. They had it on dvd. in the orginal movies, hesaid that there were like5 different hangings in diff. scenes.if u are havingtrouble finding the shadow of the midget hanging himself, look toward the top of the tinmans hat .
    what do ya think>???

yah. actually it was one of the actual midgets who went kind of insane and really did hang himself off-camera. they kinda took it out in the more recent releases of the film because the family of the man was gettin a lil upset.

    it’s not true.

there was a munchkin that hung himself in that movie tho. it was freaky. its in the original version but if you look to the right in the back ground of the movie where dorathy the scarecrow and the tin man are, there is a little person that hangs himself and there r like 2 other ghosts in that shot.

Alright, here’s the deal with the hanging “munchkin”… One of the actors playing a munchkin was lovestruck, and turned down by one of the main characters, he then hun himself… You can only see it in the very early versions because it went unnoticed for so long, and now that people know of it, they had to remove it from the family film. If you can manage to get an older copy the Wizard of Oz, in the part where the Tin Man first starts dancing you have to look near the top of the screen around the tip of his hat, it is to the right of the Tin Man’s hat, right when he blows the steamy stuff. You can see the outline of the head, torso, and legs, and if you look close enough you can see him/her sway. Most people think that the midget hanging is when they are walking down the road, that isn’t true, that is what they claim it is, because that really IS a bird, and they can just use that as a cover for the actual hanging.

..people people people.. its a bird streching its wings..damn..i eman you see the bird there not even 5 minutes before you see “the munchkin hang himself” and i have a taped version from a long time ago..its a birds wing..they had birds on the set form a zoo to make OZ look a little more life like..no munchkin deaths. OK, between the trees when they sing we’re off to ee the wizard is a bird. i tried looking for the hanging behind the itn mans dance but didnt find it. But im going to keep looking for the hanging behind the tin man, but i think that there is no hanging.
