the melodrama of teenagehood

unlike most sane people i know, i decided it would be a good idea to stay up until 2 a.m. NOT doing my homework, but rather watching the first disc of season 2 of Dawson’s Creek. yeah, i know, i have some serious issues. as i was squirming with delight over the awkwardness of joey and dawson’s excruciating second kiss, i figured out why i love this show so much (and you’ll be surprised that it has nothing to do with the plentiful pacey pulchritude).

it’s because this is how i always dreamed high school would be. not the perfect hair, perfectly bodied, perfectly perfect students with the amazing vocabularies, but all that awkward wonder of the second kiss. all the OH MY GOD HE ACTUALLY LIKES ME BACK. all that wonderful insecurity in the opposite sex. i missed all that in high school. all that teenage puppy-love. i never managed to con anyone into liking me back, so now, now, i relish in all the melodrama of teenage hood.
