lois, the 50something receptionist, stopped me in the hall as i was ambling to my desk with my first diet coke of the day.
“how do you get your hair to stick out like that,” she asked, tugging at the back of her hair as if to simulate sticky-outty hair.
“i don’t do anything, it’s just natural,” i said.
“oh, that makes sense.”
“i have naturally messy hair,” i said.
“you’re lucky.”
this just leads me to think what the fuck? i like to think i have hip happen’ swanky girly rebellious cool hair and not hair that appeals to my mom (who has said on more occassions than i care to count that she wants a haircut like mine) and lois.
time for a new ‘do.

there are lots of cool 50-something women! my mom is 56 and she has way more fashion sense than i do. if my mom gave you that compliment, you’d do best to listen to it.

messy hair is neat. I wan’t messy hair, but being asian, i end up getting the whole asian fro thing that just really doesn’t do it for me.
