uncool

so i’m tearing through the day i turned uncool: confessions of a reluctant grown-up by dan zevin this lovely saturday night when i happen upon this line, “Writing about myself is one thing, but talking about myself is something more vexing entirely. Don’t ask me why. It’s probably because I am on crazy son of a bitch.”

this along with the rest of the book leads me to think that:
a.) dan zevin and i have entirely more in common than any two complete stranger should
b.) dan zevin and i are pathetic cliches or
c.) dan zevin’s writing the truth, experiences that all the gen-xers are going through or going to go through and it’s really kind of reassuring and almost heart-warming (gak) to know that it’s sort normal. that all this is perfectly normal.

I loved this book! He made me feel as if I were cool because I’m not a far down the uncool path as he is. If you get the chance go see him at a book reading because he is actually funnier in person.
