It depends on what she wants.

If she wants something that can play music, write impromptu documents, and generally have a computer-like experience, I’d go with a Pocket PC device, like the HP Jornada.

If she wants a Calendar, To Do list, phone numbers, a Franklin Planner-esque experience, then I’d go with a Palm-type device like the Palm m130 or Sony Clie.

I support both for our Firm, and find each type to be useful in it’s own way.

I own the black and white Palm m500, because it does what I need. If money and color wasn’t a need, but wireless connectivity was, then I would have gone with Palm’s i705.

Handsrping, unles she needs it for high-end stuff like cell phone and wireless access and video. Since most people really don’t, Handspring’s the best buy right now.

Handspring is great, for the first 15 minutes until you try to use it. It’s VERY cheaply made and has a 50% out-of-box failure ratio.

Remember, if it’s THAT much cheaper, what are they skimping on?

    Jodi,

No newsletter? No email? Are you ok?

I’d go with the Sony Clie. Ie – a Palm m125 was gonna cost $299, for 8MB and 33mHZ, and without a colour screen. The Sony Clie – at $299 – was offering 16MB, 33mhz, a colour screen, same version OS as the Palm, and came with all the same essential software as the Palm (ie. Word, Excel). The only reason we went for the more expensive Palm m130? The Sony is too new for accessories like a keyboard and such, which for our purposes, was essential. Ahh well!
