21.5 inches

Snow drift

I missed the great Halloween Blizzard of ’91, because I was living in Wisconsin. So this is the first epic blizzard I can remember experiencing. Lucky for me, I live in Shakopee which wins (?) the award for getting the most snow in the Metro area. We got 21.5 inches according to the official weather people.

Let me just say right now, that while many people make fun of my townhouse and its cookie cutterness and ridiculous association rules, I’m damn thankful for that association. Thanks to them, I won’t have to go outside, where it is right now 0 degrees and find my driveway.

It’s under there somewhere.

Wow! I sure hope you stocked up on all your necessities before that hit. I’m sure people are more prepared up in MN. I always run out of coffee and milk just as the snow starts falling.

Zounds! What a magnificent snow fort waiting to happen! That’s the “Minnesota Winter” i always think of from my dad and granddad’s childhood tales. Digging out through the front door up to the roof to get on top of the snow.

i went for a nice bike ride in the halloween blizzard of ’91 – from u of m to como park and back – it was my first year in minnesota and thought that every minnesota winter was like this.

ah, the good old days, when i had to hike to school in a snow storm, up hill, each way.

I was in Duluth for the Halloween storm – 37 inches up there if I remember correctly.
