Here’s the thing, how can McCain talk about all the change and reform and whatnot that Washington needs (and he will bring) when his party has been controlling the joint for the past eight years? And I know he tried to chide the Repubs with all the “we lost their trust.” But it’s just confusing when there is a we and a they and I am not sure who the hell anyone is.
Also, his whole POW thing would have had way, way more impact if it hadn’t been touted by every single speaker in every single speech this entire week.
And finally, as much as this pains me, I’d rather have Palin give the speeches because McCain was boring as hell.

My favorite quote in regards to McCain’s ‘hero’ status came from my dad a few years ago and goes something like “Getting your airplane shot down and spending years as a POW doesn’t make you a hero. It just makes you a survivor.”
I have to say i agree with that assessment. He survived, married an uber rich woman with lots of good connections in government and now, when he should be retiring to go off and enjoy his mounds of cash in the twilight of his years, he chooses to run for president with a former pole-dancer* as his running mate? Yikes. Another puppet animated by the shadowy men behind the curtain.
*beauty queen = pole dancer in my worldview.
I’m with shokkou on McCain’s “hero” status. Plus, it’s played out.
Palin is much more interesting, no doubt. Watching the news here in London – and not watching or reading ANY American news sources (on purpose) – has been pretty entertaining.
If she were a Dem, I could go for an Obama/Palin ticket. It’s a shame that she’s for everything I’m against because I kind of like her. As a person. Not a politician.
