The skanky bowl

Even though I know how it all ends, I still think of that night as one of those defining moments in my life. It was the first real romantic night I’d ever experienced. Of all the things that fly through my mind when I hear the opening jangly bits of “I Will Dare,” that night is one of the first.

So it was kind of strange and ironic that after hugging the TTHM goodnight, I hopped into Ruby and turned the key, only to be greeted by those jangly bits floating out of the speakers. I smacked the steering wheel and laughed.

There was no romance tonight, just old friends catching up and reminiscing. Oh and an over-abundance of the word skanky. In fact, the TTHM used the word skanky so often that I had to point it out to him. He didn’t believe me until I started smacking him. He caught on fast, that TTHM is a smart one.

Tonight as I listened to him tell me how “words convey meaning” or about what a big, fat e-crush he has on Christa it was everything I could do not to lean over and bite him. I’d forgotten how much I enjoyed hanging out with him and I figured if I did something weird I’d not forget any more.
