Help! I woke up this morning with a song in my head and I don’t know the name of the song and it’s driving me absolutely crazy.
It’s some alt-rock duet from the mid-90s that much I’m sure of. It’s some guy and maybe someone like Hope Sandoval (Mazzy Star) or the chick from the Cowboy Junkies, and the lyrics that are floating around in my brain are this:
“Something something, I’m on my knees, don’t make me do that please” (I think the guy sings that part)
“You ran away but now you’re back” The girl sings this. But it’s more ‘but now you’re bbbaaaaaaaaacccckkkkkk.”
I am going crazy trying to figure out this song. Anybody?
Sometimes Always
-Jesus And Mary Chain
I gave you all I had
I gave you good and bad
I gave but you just threw it back
I won’t get on my knees
Don’t make me do that please
I’ve been away but now I’m back
Don’t be too sure of that
What makes you sure of that
You went away you can’t come back
I walked away from you
I hurt you through and through
Aw honey give me one more chance
Aw you’re a lucky son
Lucky son of a gun
You went away, you went away
You went away but now youre back
I got down on my knees
And then I begged you please
I always knew you’d take me back
Oh my god, I think I love you. I mean I always kind of knew that I probably loved you. But now it’s for sure.
You’re the best!
I aim to please 🙂
Aww, man. I was in Chicago and missed this whole thing. I wanted to be the one to post the answer. It’s the guy from JMC, as Kelly said, and the girl from Mazzy Star, as you guessed. They had a thing for a while when MS toured with JMC. It was awesome to see them sing this live. It’s a great song. Sadly, their love didn’t last nearly as long as the tour if I remember correctly.
