i finally had four uninterrupted minutes here in my cell. most of the day has spent meeting, discussing, phone calling, and answering questions. i long for the day when i just get to write again. but that is besides the point.
the point here is that i was sitting at my desk, cranking up ol’ Roland and listening to the songs on shuffle (Roland is up to 5449 songs) when Ugly Love came on. i’m pretty sure this is the first time i’ve ever listened to this song. and i think maybe he wrote it about me. “And if she finds me so repulsive She wouldn’t be the first to wretch Well i decided one day long ago I was never gonna be the greatest catch.
it nearly made me cry.

I just got home and in the mail was the latest issue of Magnet Magazine and on the cover is Husker Du, The Replacements, Minneapolis, The Rise and Fall of the ’80s Scene. Haven’t read it yet, but the inside says “cover story A Tale of Twin Cities: All the brilliance, beers, breakups and bastards of young; MAGNET presents an oral history of the ’80s Minneapolis scene and the stories of Husker Du and the Replacements, told by the band members and those who were there. Just in case you haven’t seen it yet.
i have heard its out there, but have yet to journey out to get it. maybe i’ll stop after work tomorrow. thanks for the reminder.
