i just told wendy about how when we were kids, jenni trunell, sister #2 and i would play The Mandrell Sisters. we would play this a lot. it was one of our favorite games, besides grease. we played grease a lot too.
i liked playing grease better than the mandrell sisters. because when we played grease i always got to be sandy. when we played mandrell sisters i had to be irlene. somehow this was some slight to me, irlene was stupid. though i really didn’t have any burning desire to be barbara or louise either. i just really didn’t want to be irlene.

wasn’t irlene the cute one?
well sure if you like cute blondes. if you like mysterious brunettes, not so much.
irlene was the complete, totally ditzy one.
you know, if i had to compare her to someone now, i would compare her to jessica simpson.
see? i should never have had to play the role of irlene. clearly i should have been barbara, but i think it had something to do with height. jenni was shorter so she got to barbara and sister #2 has black hair so she got to be louise. now you can see why i always wanted to play grease. or happy days where i got to be pinky tuscadero.
Yeah, well you never had to play Laverne and Shirley; My sister as Laverne, my niece as Shirley and I as an amalgamation of Lenny AND Squiggy.
Hair gel to look like Squiggy: $3
Jacket turned inside out to look like Lenny: $15
Polaroid pictures to use as blackmail: $18
Destroying your little brother’s sense of self worth and enslaving him through most of his adolesence: Priceless
we played a lot of New Kids on the Block. I was always Jonathan, because I was the tallest one.
