“oh jodi,” shannon said, “i can’t even look at you without pain.”
“oh, it doesn’t hurt,” i said. “i’m not any pain killers right now.”
“oh it will hurt,” she said.
“SHANNON,” julie screeched. “don’t tell her that.”
“but it will, dry sockets, bloody gauze packed into your tooth.”
“great,” i said. “now i’m really afraid.”
“it won’t hurt until sunday, that’s when the dry sockets will get bad,” shannon said.
“STOP!” julie yelled. “you’re making my stomach hurt.”

My girlfriend had two dry sockets I think… It sucks but it’s not THAT bad from what I could tell.
She sort of sneered and put up with it for a couple days but she was working and doing fine the whole time.
I had the same thing happen when I was 28. For an entire week, my head looked like Richard Nixon’s. I don’t remember it hurting bad, though.
I had one dry socket and it was hell. but I also got sick from the antibiotics and the pain medicine and didn’t eat for a week. not a fun way to lose 10 pounds.
No dry sockets here, but I did sleep for almost two days straight when I got home from the extraction.
geez, i had no dry sockets, no visible bruising and i was back at work the second day after surgery. stop scaring my poor jodi chromey! bad darling ones! bad!
Yeah, my swelling actually went down AFTER my wisdom teeth were extracted. I was eating Chex mix within a few hours, because I felt better.
i have 2 dry sockets right now and its the most miserable thing ive had to go through. the same thing happened to me with the pain medicine..i got sick off of it and so i pretty much have to tough the throbbing and stabbing pain on the left side of my face out. i dont recommend that anyone have their wisdom teeth out unless absolutely necessary.
i have had what i think is a dry socket, it was a molar extracted and it hurts like hell, i have been takin pain med for about four days now, i am finding that advil does good as it is an antinflamitory…but cant eat, but as someone said above, what a way to lose a few pounds…every time i eat or drink it is so painfull, im in tears,and i consider myself tough…will see i guess…any input will be greatly appreciated…rosie
i had 4 wisdom teeth out 3 days ago, ots not really that bad, the pain comes and goes, although i have been eating so the medication doenst make me sick like some people. Everyone is differnent, so far, i look like a chipmunk, but feel like a DIVA! well not so much diva, maybe whitney huston, a drugged up diva 🙂
I also just had my wisdom teeth extracted and i am just hopeing that I won’t have the pain of dry sockets. I would be so afraid. I read on one site that if you have a bad taste in your mouth you might have one. And I defintaly have that… so I am nervous. I hope it doesn’t happen.
ANother werid thing was that my face didn’t become un numb for about 6 hours after I came home. I was so scared they hit the nerve and that I would never feel my face again. But slowly it came back tingling. ok well good luck to all that just had them out and hopefully we won’t get dry sockets

Dry Sockets eh?! I had ALL 4 wisdom teeth pulled on Thursday. Doc says should be feeling better/worst pain Saturday. Sunday night I wake up screaming in pain and guess what? I have dry sockets! Went back to dentist today, he packed with with gauze which is soaked in some GROSS tasting shit that’s supposed to help heal. Gotta go back on Wednesday to repack. EW. This stuff is so freakin’ disgusting…I can’t even think about food or drink. My BF says I reek of chemical. No fun. No fun at all.
I had my 4 removed on thursday morning and it’s sunday morning I’m hurting!!! last night a blot clot dislodged the same time my period came out….any information?
I had all 4 wisdom teeth extracted last Friday… and I thought all was well until I got sick because of my meds.. So I was sick to my stomach and my doctor prescribes meds for my nausea then right after that i developed a dry socket.. THE PAIN. and I think I’m developing a new dry socket.
WILL THIS EVER GET BETTER?
